my first day in school

It was a sunny day... my mum and i drove steadily to the school and i felt like i was going to prison. i had heard so many things about boarding life from my ellder brother and so prepared my mind for the worst....

it was fun anyways; we arrived the premises at 12 noon . the sight of students in their green and white school uniform gave me great joy.I couldn't wait to see how the class room blocks looked like. my heart was beating faster, i was now a Giftedite.

My mum paid all the necessary fees and I was assigned to a hostel : YELLOW HOUSE.A senior boy was assigned to take me to the hostel and he helped me carry my belongings. On our way to the hostel, he asked me what my name was, the school I came from and i answered with precision; it was really exiting. I couldn't hold my joy; I asked about the hostel I was assigned to and he assured me that I was given the best hostel on campus; It revived my joy. I dropped my belongings in the hostel, arranged my bed and ran to the class room block; I forgot that my mum was waiting for me in the car park. Finally, after several minutes of keeping her waiting, I went to meet her and said goodbye to her. With tears in her eyes she waved me goodbye. she feared that i was too young to live in a boarding house, for i was just 9 years and six months at that time.

The admission period was tiring.I had taken the federal government entrance examination, gotten a good score which automatically gave me admission to a federal government college located in the heart of Abuja.

we started the whole verification process. It was very tiring. Got samples of the school uniform we were to use and the house wear, was almost going to the tailor shop to make ready for school when my Dad came back with some funny news. he said that his friends discouraged him from sending his son to that school, adding that they defecated on people's school uniforms and had several scary corporal punishments; and we dropped the idea of going to a federal government school also known as 'unity schools'.

Gifted school was a dream come true. During the entrance examinations, my dad bought me several books to study with; my brain was naturally built for maths , but i needed more practice to make sure i was getting into school.

After the entrance examinations which i passed, i got interested in gifted school; but then there was another hurdle: the school had her own internal examination.

That Saturday morning, my dad ....
